The most reliable way to follow a ship is not to look at one moving icon and assume it tells the whole story. Check the vessel’s identity, latest reported position, timestamp, speed, course, destination and ETA. If the ship is approaching a Seaway lock, also check the available transit and Order of Turn information.
That combination gives you a much clearer picture of where a Great Lakes vessel is, where it is heading, and what may happen next.
